If you have answered yes to the above question, you may want to think about volunteering at you local fire
company. You may volunteer by becoming an active firefighter who responds to fire calls or be a social member. When
most people think about joining a fire department, the automatically think of people running into a burning building. Those
people could not be further from the truth. In fact, we have many members of the social status that help our department greatly.
These social members help work bingos, fundraisers, and our annual carnival.
As you can see, there are many things people can do to help their local fire department if you do not care
to respond to fire calls. If you are interested in joining the department, there are some requirements you must follow:
-
Must be at least 16 years of age at the time of application. Members between the ages of 16 and 18 are considered
junior members.
-
You must fill out an application. After filling out an application, it is read at the next monthly meeting
and voted on at the following meeting (must be present at time of voting).
-
No training is required. The department will pay to send you to the classes that you need.
-
Must be a resident of the Cecil Twp. #3 response area.
If this sounds like something you may be interested in, contact the Cecil Fire Department at (724)-745-3950
and you may speak to a member about joining and also ask any questions you may have for them. You may also e-mail me at the
e-mail address below for more information.
